The British Invasion makes a return—this time with the sounds of punk and alternative rock. Blood Red Shoes, a duo rock band from Brighten, England, will be making a stop in NoVA at the Red Palace on their U.S. tour. The tour will promote the release of their third album “In Time to Voices,” which came out earlier this year.
Blood Red Shoes’ members include Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell. Carter plays a variety of guitars while Ansell rocks out on the drums. The Brit pair originally came from two separate bands—both of which later broke up. Ansell says, “Laura and I liked the same music and bands, and even jammed together. We knew it worked so we took a shot and formed the band. Our friendship started after the music.”
Having made two albums, “Box of Secrets” and “Fire Like This,” and a couple of singles, Blood Red Shoes decided to make their third album different from the others. Carter and Ansell wanted this record to be more mature with more melody, rather than a fast and aggressive punk style they have done in the past.
Since their start in 2004, Blood Red Shoes has gradually become a growing sensation in the United Kingdom. From traveling on a summer tour through the United Kingdom to appearing at several venues with seats in the thousands, Blood Red Shoes have been busy getting their name and music out to the public. Although they are not a name well-known in the U.S. just quite yet, the band will be spreading their rock music around the country on their three-week tour. “We’re hoping to connect with the U.S. audiences and be able to come back in the future,” Ansell says.
The band will be celebrating their eighth anniversary at the NoVA show, which gives more of a reason for rock fans to come out and join the party.
